SACSSP Marks a Strong Start to 2026
The South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) has concluded a busy and productive start to the year, with significant progress across its divisions during January 2026.
Registrations Division
Between 5 and 30 January 2026, the Registrations Division approved 309 new registration applications. 27 social service professionals were successfully restored to the Register in terms of section 20(3) of the Social Service Professions Act 110 of 1978. 323 exemption applications were approved.
Education, Training and Development Division
The CPD panel approved 26 Continuing Professional Development applications.
Professional Conduct Division
The Committee of Preliminary Inquiry investigated 12 complaints of unprofessional or improper conduct against social service professionals.
Stakeholder Engagement and Professional Development
From 21 to 31 January 2026, the SACSSP hosted four provincial webinars introducing the new online registration system. A total of 648 social service professionals attended the webinars.
On 27 January 2026, SACSSP held a meet and greet session with the Chief Director for Entity Oversight and Institutional Support from the National Department of Social Development. This engagement forms part of SACSSP’s ongoing stakeholder collaboration efforts, aimed at reinforcing institutional relationships and ensuring the Council is better resourced, structurally aligned, and positioned to fulfil its mandate in advancing the social service profession across South Africa.
