Restoration

Any person who was registered with the SACSSP and his or her name was removed from the Register in terms of section 20(1) or section 14C(1) of the Social Service Professions Act 110 of 1978, may apply to restore his or her name in accordance with section 20(3) of the Act in the prescribed manner (see Application for Restoration below) to request that his or name be restored to the Register.

NOTE: A person whose registration was cancelled in terms of section 22(1)(c) of the Act, needs to apply for re-registration in terms of section 22(4) of the Act and not for restoration. See Re-registration

Social Work

APPLICATION FOR RESTORATION

Social workers and social auxiliary workers

A social worker or social auxiliary worker whose name was removed from the Register in terms of section 20(1) or section 14C(1) Act may apply for his or her name to be restored to the Register in terms of section 20(3) of the Act.

The application form for restoration obtainable from the SACSSP needs to be completed and the required restoration fees need to be paid, for Council to consider restoration. The application forms for restoration as a social worker and social auxiliary worker are available below.

A social worker registered for a speciality whose name was removed from the Register related to the speciality, may apply for his or her registration for the speciality to be restored by completing the application form and payment of the prescribed restoration fees.

Student social workers and student social auxiliary workers

A student who has abandoned his or her studies in social work or social auxiliary work  for a period longer than 3 years must complete Student Social Work Application Form or Student Social Auxiliary Work Application Form (there is no separate application for restoration form for students):

Child and youth care work

APPLICATION FOR RESTORATION

Child and youth care workers and auxiliary child and youth care workers

A child and youth care worker or auxiliary child and youth care worker whose name was removed from the Register in terms of section 20(1) or section 14C(1) Act may apply for his or her name to be restored to the Register in terms of section 20(3) of the Act.
