CHILD AND YOUTH CARE WORK AROUND THE WORLD 

The SACSSP celebrated with the entire world International Child and Youth Care Worker’s Week from 5 to 11 May 2025 under the theme “Global Belonging in Child and Youth Care” that underscores the profession’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging among its practitioners and the children, youth and families they serve. The President of the SACSSP and the Registrar delivered closing addresses on the first and third day of the National Association of Child Care Workers (NACCW) three-day event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the NACCW. As from 28 April to 9 May 2025 1,412 Practice Cards were issued to registrants while a total of 145  new applications for registration were received (63 for social work, 53 for student social work, 18 for social auxiliary work and 11 for student social auxiliary work), and a total of 154 registration certificates were issued to student social workers. The SACSSP received during this period 32 new continuing professional development (CPD) applications from providers for CPD activities of which 22 were approved.  

 

UPDATES & ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Social service professionals and employers are reminded to take note of General Notice 4 of 2025: Notice of the removal of names from the register in terms of section 20(1)(d) of the Act. Persons who are affected by the removal of their names from the Register and wishes to continue practicing the profession he or she was registered for, need to apply for their names to be restored to the Register in terms of section 20(3) of the Act. Please refer to paragraph 8 of General Notice 4 of 2025 for more details.
